Descent of the Holy Spirit
I began working on this miniature icon of the Descent of the Holy Spirit over a year ago, but a number of things, like a few icon commissions as well as the Overhang cover art intervened.
Now that I have begun working on this again and hope I will finish it by Pentecost, I thought I'd post my progress on this icon.

I love the fact that you have included women in this... I presume Our Blessed Mother, Mary Equal to the Apostles, and (you'll help me indentify the third ?)
ReplyDeleteI was given a generous gift for my ordination to the priesthood. The parish had a chasuble commissioned for the day- and I was allowed to design it as I wanted it. I asked for an icon of the Descent of the Spirit, but I didn't like any of the icons I knew about because they were all male. The iconographer told me about one which included the Mother of God, and I chose that one for the front of the chasuble. It is lovely. I look forward to seeing the completed icon. I have some femnist friends who will love this.
