Here are the two icons sitting on my work space in my studio, in their current state.
Here is The Bridegroom whit the first layer of paint applied.
Here is the Wedding at Cana with the first two layers of point, the dark base colors with middle highlights.
Here is the Bridegroom after the nourishing layer has been applied.
The nourishing layer is a layer of egg emulsion without pigment. This layer of paint accomplishes two things, it seals the previous two layers of painting, and helps bring out the colors. It also provides a thin layer of paint that heightens the sense of light coming off the figure. Light is a very important aspect of iconagraphy
