Gavin, Actually you probably get lost at times because I blog stream of consciousness, and my grammar and spelling can be atrocious. So, I was a bit surprised. but it may mean that you need to be a genius to dig through the morass. I don't know. But I also find it interesting that who ever provides this little evaluation gives no explanation the criteria for these evaluations. Oh, and you may have a point about the philosophical and theological terms used in my writing. But then in part I blog in lieu of writing academic papers or books.
The concept of the test seems to be what reading level do you need to read and understand the blog. So, I think it probably goes through the blog and looks at the words used and sees what reading level the biggest words are. That's the only way this kind of test makes sense. But maybe I'm giving the test maker too much credit.
I was just trying to give you a bit of a hard time. As you know, I do get a lot out of your blog. I'd probably even enjoy it if I didn't know the person behind it.
Pastor Gavin, Ya, that was my thought as well, but I was just commenting on that there was no easy way to find an explanation of the test. Oh, and I knew you were giving me a hard time I was just being a little self deprecating about the creative spelling and creative grammar, that even sometimes surprises me when I reread a post several days after posting it. Sometimes I edit, sometimes I let the obscurity due to spelling or grammar be.
Philip, Yes I have contemplated the double edged sword of this. On the one hand one might assume that if one has to be a genius to read ones blog one must be a genius to write for geniuses. Though there could be a whole in that logic. On the other hand one will have a very small readership if only a genius can understand what the hell one is saying. This might explain the number of or lack there of readers of this blog.
genius! how flattering. my blog, on the other hand, got a junior high reading level. i'd like to know who came up with the rating system.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder I sometimes get lost while trying to read one of your posts. I guess I'm just not at that genius level.
ReplyDeleteSmaller words can be your friend ;)
Though, I'm half tempted to write an entry in my blog with all sorts of big, theological and philosophical words to raise mine past "High School".
Gavin,

Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteYa, I too wonder about the rating system. But I don't take these things to seriously, just a bit of fun.

You are so funny - especially when you attempt Southern-speak!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I got "high school" -- but depending on whether you're trying to be obscure or not, "genius" might or might not be a compliment. ;-)

Modiste,
ReplyDeleteI do try to be funny, and I am glad my use of southern-speak is funny to you.
