  1. As I unearthed my cd of Donn's, I started to reflect on his life and the legacy he left behind. Donn was truly a renaissance man. He wrote poetry, he rode a harley, he was an incredible lover (so I am told!!) and he was a family man. He was also a gentle man. Lumbering over most at well over 6', Donn was never intimidating once you got to know him. He always made a place for me next to him. He always included me in the conversation. He held my chair, opened the door and made sure I was safe while walking down the street. If he did this for me, a friend, I can only imagine how much he cared and watched over his lady.
Donn also loved his children. He called them, he visited them, he wrote poetry about them, and he never let them forget how much he was there for them.
Donn was so many things to so many people, and he made it look effortless. He related with ease to people of all social standings, ideologies and backgrounds.
I will always be indebted to this man for the legacy he left behind, healing some of the wounds left by other men and showing me that renaissance men really do exist. Rest easy, my friend!

  2. Poetdoll,
Thank you for sharing your experience of Donn here on my blog.

I had forgotten that he road a Harley, though I had not forgotten his gentleness and the way he cared for people, and his varieties of interests.

Glad to know you come by now and again.
